My old iOttie broke so I had to find a new car charger for my phone. I really didn’t want to pay $50+ but also wanted to find one that automatically opened arms without a button.Installation was super easy. I loosened the cog on the back, lightly pushed the bulb on the air vent clamp in, tightened the cog, attached usb cable and was ready to go.The clamp system on the air vent seems more secure than the alternative where a second cog must be tightened. It’s a switch that tightens at different levels. I think there are only 2 levels.The arms open when the car starts and it stays open until you put the phone in. Then the bottom and arms auto retract. To remove press the buttons on the side. It holds enough power that the arms open with button push even after you turn off the engine.Charging works fine and the entire setup seems more stable than the old one that often fell out due to jiggling.This is a great holder/charger. There one small problem. I bought this item based on a review video that I watched. The reviewer showed this item in the exact same vehicle that I own. But I guess he failed to notice this issue while making the video. Of course, he never did go for a drive, so I understand how this was missed. There is nowhere on the driver side of my truck that this can be used without interfering with the turn signal lever or the shift lever, which in my case, is on the steering column. So it is best to make sure there is ample clearance between the vents and these important driver functions of any vehicle. Other than that, this is a great holder/wireless charger. Unfortunately, I wont be using it anymore.Actually installed this onto a more secure ball mount that bolts to my dash. Holds phone well but loses wireless charging connection every couple minutes. It does charge quickly when it stays connected however. Mechanism arms have worked consistently. Would rate it much higher if wireless charging would stay connected. Doesn't matter if phone case is off or on, same problem occurs. Mount and ball attachment point are pretty solid and hold position well otherwise.Updated 9/23/22: Seller reached out to me with a replacement mount and shipped it very quickly. Only got to test for a couple days before my vehicle was hit by another vehicle and is in repair. However, in preliminary short-term use, the mount works as expected and intended, thus giving a great customer service experience and a mount that is excellent for my purposes (keeping phone charged wirelessly while connected to a wireless Android auto adapter + visible for navigation, etc.). Very pleased at this point.- This phone mount is sturdy and well made.- Grips perfectly - being motorized, when you drop in your phone it adjusts to grip it perfectly. Even a giant Galaxy S20 with a case works great. The phone has also never fallen out of the mount.- The clamp mechanism is very sturdy, although I prefer not to mount my phone to a heating vent.- The wireless charging has worked flawlessly with Samsung phones (haven't tried others)I am a big DIYer and find this mount to be an absolute dream!! The reason is the shape of the base. There are 6 little screws that attach the vent clamp. Take those screws out, remove the clamp and you are left with 6 mounting holes to use. If those don't meet your DIY needs, the base is shaped like a little cave so you can easily fill embed mounting bolts in it using Bondo Glass.I have used one of these as a phone mount in a craft room as well as mounting in 2 cars. For a car, you can usually find a mounting plate made specifically for your car where the mounting plate screws in behind your radio bezel. Then you embed 2 mounting bolts into the motorized base using Bond Glass, bolt the base to the mounting plate, and then screw the mounting plate to the car...I bought the black one and it works very well on my ip14 max and my friend really like it so I gave it to her. Then I bought this one with the res arms. It is sturdy and strong but it popped out of my vent 3 times in a day. I’m glad it did not damage my phone. Other than that it works.Seems pretty good so far after using for a few weeks, my only complaint is that it automatically closes after you shut the car off. Therefore next time you get in and start the car you have to wait for it to power up and then open up.. really not that big of a deal but in my opinion it should just stay open by default.I had no idea this thing was automatic it will open and grap your phone on itself and charge it right away and when u unplug it it opens on its own and has a little blue light just u have to buy a car charger port… this is amazing and it works well too and u can hold your phone in landscape view too without it being wobblyUpdate—The company contacted me several times and is sending a different clip. It means a lot to get customer service like this. They are trying to do everything they can to make it right. That is all I can ask of them. I would buy from this company again because of their follow up and their willingness to please. Thank you!I like the sturdiness of the product.Opens up when you start the car then closes when you put your phone in. It does not open when you turn off your car. Falls off often when driving which can be annoying.
